In the following adapted notation, colors are not assigned randomly. They follow the rainbow as the notes travel up the concert Bb scale. Along with that, the student is not solely learning the note on the staff. They are taking the note on the staff and seeing the corresponding fingering through the matching of colors and pictures.
This adapted notation was designed to aid in the beginning instrument learning process for students on the autism spectrum and those with other special needs. The music staff and note shapes do not change; there is only an addition of color and fingering images. This will allow students to eventually be transitioned back to traditional music notation
